Hyde & Beast Need You!! (if you play trumpet)
Hyde & Beast – The Futureheads’ Dave Hyde and ex-Golden Virgins’ drummer Neil Bassett - are offering fans the opportunity of a life time. They are looking for trumpet-playing fans to join them onstage during their UK tour which kicks off on Sunday in Newcastle! To apply, simply send your name, contact details and the date you would like to play to hydeandbeast@hotmail.co.uk along with a confirmation that you have a trumpet you're able to use. The band will get back to those selected to play with more information. You can see the video for ‘Never Come Back’ here:

Videos from The Sound Of Arrows
Swedish duo, and alleged Madonna botherers, The Sound Of Arrows have not one but two videos for your delectation and amusement.
The first is for their new single, which was out on Monday (25th), called 'Magic'.
Set in a world where all the adults have disappeared, the colourful 4 minute epic video brings to mind the enchanting mystery of Del Toro’s “Pan’s Labyrinth” and the playful imagination of Pixar’s creations. It’s “Where The Wild Things Are” meets “The Neverending Story”, and every bit as fantastical, beguiling, and eye-poppingly stunning as that sounds.
As if that isn't enough, they've given us this lovely mini-doc on how the video was made:
The Sound of Arrows play the following festival dates this summer:
July 01 Blissfields Festival Winchester
July 15 Melt Festival Germany
July 16 Lovebox Festival London
Aug 18 Pukkelpop Festival Belgium

Alexi Murdoch single release and video
Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Alexi Murdoch is set to release ‘Some Day Soon’ from his beautiful new album 'Towards the Sun' on March 14 on City Slang.
'Some Day Soon’ is a delicate and understated track, but what it lacks in mammoth orchestration it more than makes up for in charm. Warm and heartfelt, ‘Some Day Soon’ shows off Murdoch’s talent for creating music that is both refreshing and comfortably familiar.
Check out Alexi performing the song live here:

Single news from A Badge Of Friendship
A couple of pieces of singles news from the lovely people over at A Badge Of Friendship.
The first is Wayter, based in London but hailing from Argentina, Spain, Devon and Berkshire this four piece create a 60's psyche tinged sound with a muscular edge that has been compared to such luminaries as Slint and Fugazi. So, no pressure then lads!
'Twenty' is out on February 21:
Wayter - Twenty by abadgeoffriendship
This is followed a week later by 'Teenage Eyes' courtesy of Ex Libras. 'Teenage Eyes' follows on from the success of their debut album, 'Suite(s)' and its' counterpart EP, 'Cut(s)', which saw the lads re-imagining a selection of tracks from their first release into a hauntingly produced, and genuinely beautiful, musical masterpiece. The single is taken from the EP, and is representative of their stripped down, acoustic approach to the production process.
